Establish Your Catholic Legacy

Helping you leave a legacy of faith is a priority of the Catholic Community Foundation for Eastern South Dakota (CCFESD). A legacy reflects your heart. It is a final testament of who you are, what you value, and whom you love.

Serving all of the diverse communities in our diocese with staff living in six communities across eastern South Dakota, the CCFESD team has developed and made available a Catholic End of Life Planning Workshop for any individual or parish in our Diocese. In these workshops, parishioners learn how they can plan for their own needs, for the needs of their loved ones, and how to pass on their Catholic values to future generations.  Those who attend said that they are grateful that we brought this important planning to them, helping them have meaningful conversations with their loved ones.

The workshop reviews the steps of estate planning and provides free resources, such as information about medical directives, a will & estate planning guide, and more.  The Catholic Community Foundation offers Catholic End of Life Planning Workshops for free to individuals and parishes throughout the diocese. We can also bring the presentation to your Catholic organization, club, council, as well as to you, individually.

The topic of “End Of Life Planning” is not always easy to approach.  However, ignoring the topic can make life a bit harder to navigate as your health changes or you suddenly lose a loved one.

Laurie Campbell lost her husband Jim on October 1, 2020. Losing Jim has been incredibly hard for Laurie and her family.  However, Laurie was so thankful for the planning that they had completed prior to Jim’s passing. This inspired her to host an End of Life Planning Workshop for Catholics at her parish, St. Mary’s in Aberdeen, SD, so that her friends who make up the parish “hospitality circle” could benefit. Laurie shared, “Because Jim and I had made some important decisions beforehand, it does bring our family comfort and healing.

Eleven parishioners joined Laurie for the workshop at St. Mary’s Parish Hall, which included a presentation from Gift Planning Officer, David Vetch, of the CCFESD.

The CCFESD will help you leave a legacy of faith.  Find out more by visiting with any one of our Planned Giving Officers in communities across the diocese.  Visit our website, www.ccfesd.org to find the office near you.
