We’re excited to share this year’s theme:
“The Path of Peace”
This year’s theme invites us to step into the story of Zechariah, a temple priest whose life was forever changed by God’s promise. Zechariah and his wife, Elizabeth—Mary’s cousin—were faithful and devout, yet childless in their old age. Then came an extraordinary moment: the angel Gabriel appeared to Zechariah in the temple, announcing that they would miraculously bear a son. This child, John the Baptist, would go on to prepare the way for the Savior of the world.
At first, Zechariah struggled to believe, and he was struck mute until the day he named his son “John”. In that moment of faith, his voice returned, and he burst forth in a hymn of praise now known as The Canticle of Zechariah (Luke 1:68-79). For centuries, clergy and religious across the world have prayed his words daily—a song that culminates in the promise that God will “guide our feet into the path of peace.”
