It is out of a deep sense of gratitude to God that we share the annual impact report of activities of the Catholic Community Foundation for Eastern SD through June 30, 2020. In spite of the challenges brought on by Covid-19, donors continue to support the many charities that they care most about – and…

Donor Advised Funds and their End of Year Tax Advantage

by Ellen Keena December 10, 2020

What is a Donor Advised Fund? This is a donor-designated fund that gives you flexibility in your charitable giving. Similar to a checking account, but for charitable purposes. After you put funds into the account you can designate any portion to the charity of your choice, and we take care of the rest.   Are…

IRA Rollover

by Ellen Keena November 16, 2020

Jim and Jackie are members of Sacred Heart Parish/Aberdeen.  They have enjoyed supporting their parish as well as the St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center, as Jackie was a long-time employee of Northern State University.  While working they typically made monthly gifts to their parish and their favorite ministry.  Upon retirement, the Hansons became aware that…

Bunching Gifts

by Ellen Keena November 16, 2020

Some donors may benefit from concentrating, or “bunching” their charitable contributions for potential income tax savings.   So what is bunching and how can it provide tax savings? It is concentrating, for example, doubling your charitable giving in tax year one and then not making charitable donations in tax year two.  In this way, a donor…

COVID-19 Relief Fund | 10.15.20 Update

by Ellen Keena October 14, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an economic impact on many of our families, friends, and neighbors. While many applicants have actually returned to work, limited hours, substantial decrease in clientele and catching up on the financial strains of the previous months has been difficult. Over the past 27 weeks, the Catholic Community Foundation has received…

Gift of Grain

by Ellen Keena October 14, 2020

Today’s challenges have forced us all to adapt in ways we weren’t even sure we could. You can’t control the weather, the markets or the impact of a global pandemic, but you get up every day, go out to those fields and yards and try to make things better than the day before.  And you still…

COVID-19 Update: Bishop’s Fishing Tournament Goes Virtual

At the Catholic Community Foundation for Eastern South Dakota, our priority is the well-being of our donors, event participants, staff and the entire Diocese.  During this time of uncertainty, we are monitoring the status of COVID-19 daily with a primary goal of keeping everyone safe and healthy. As stronger restrictions have become imposed, the Catholic Community Foundation, along with the members of the Bishop’s Fishing Tournament committee, has reached the decision to pivot this year’s tournament to a virtual event.

Your support of the virtual Bishop’s Fishing Tournament is needed now more than ever. If you have already registered, THANK YOU for your support and understanding.  A member of our team will reach out to you to convert your registration to comply with this new virtual fishing event.  If you have yet to sign up, we hope that you will do so. In this 24th year of the Bishop’s Fishing Tournament, your support continues to be so important.  The tradition of this event and the amazing financial support cannot diminish.  We thank you for your dedication and support!
