28th Annual Christmas at the Cathedral: “Go In Peace!”

December 12-15, 2024 | Cathedral of St. Joseph, Sioux Falls
Benefiting The Cathedral of St. Joseph and Bishop Dudley Hospitality House

The 28th Annual Christmas at the Cathedral, “Go In Peace!” was a moving celebration of the Christmas story, inspired by the words of Luke 2:29-30: “Lord, now you let your servant go in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation.” Attendees were immersed in a first-hand account of the monumental events surrounding Jesus’ birth and His miraculous mission and impact, as experienced by Simeon and Anna. Simeon, who was promised that he would not die before seeing the Messiah, and Anna, who prayed fervently day and night in the temple, exemplified unwavering faith and perseverance.

Held December 12–15 at the historic Cathedral of St. Joseph, this year’s event drew nearly 5,000 attendees across six sold-out performances. Thousands more were able to experience the joy of the season through a special Christmas Day broadcast on KELOLAND TV, extending the peace and hope of Christmas far beyond the Cathedral’s walls.

Local actors Andrew and Teresa Henrickson brought the experiences of Simeon and Anna to life with heartfelt performances, while Nashville artists Shelley Jennings and Christopher Bailey added depth and emotion to the evening’s narrative and musical arrangements. They were joined by the Christmas at the Cathedral Choir, directed by Rachael Kramer, and the Christmas at the Cathedral Orchestra, led by Music Director and Conductor Dr. John Flanery. Together, these talented artists filled the Cathedral with soaring harmonies and rich instrumentals, blending timeless carols with original compositions to create an unforgettable story of faith, renewal and joy.

In addition to its spiritual impact, the event raised essential funds for the ongoing care and maintenance endowments of the Cathedral of St. Joseph and the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House. This remarkable collaboration of artistry and generosity continues to touch hearts and transform lives, making Christmas at the Cathedral a cherished tradition in our community.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this truly special event!
