As the Director of the Aberdeen Catholic Foundation / Gift Planning Officer, you will play a crucial role in helping to secure the future financial stability of the ministries and activities of the Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls. In this role, you will be responsible for developing key donor relationships in the Aberdeen area to promote planned giving initiatives and secure major gifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help people grow in their understanding of living a Christian stewardship way of life – seeing all as a gift from God and responding in gratitude by generously sharing one’s gifts with others.
- Under the direction of the Aberdeen Catholic Foundation Board, work in partnership with the Bishop, the priests of the Aberdeen parishes, and the leaders of the various Catholic ministries in the Diocese of Sioux Falls.
- Manage all aspects of individual donor relationships – one of the key development areas in the Catholic Community Foundation’s mission advancement program.
- Inform, engage and cultivate current and prospective major and planned gift prospects in a meaningful way with the ministries of the local parish, Diocese of Sioux Falls and the greater Catholic Church.
- Cultivate and solicit single and multi-year currents gifts and develop relationships that result in charitable estate gifts.
- Participate in helping to host the Bishop’s charity events to connect with donors and prospective donors.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fundraising or sales, excellent communication skills, and a passion for the Catholic Church. Experience in planned giving, major gifts and donor relations is preferred. Working knowledge of gift planning tools such as non-cash assets, charitable trusts, annuities and life insurance is a plus. Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team to be successful in this role.
