Thank God for the gifts of faith, hope and love – especially during this COVID-19 pandemic. As Bishop DeGrood has reminded us through the story of the disciples being tossed and turned and fearing for their lives in the stormy sea, our trust is in our Lord Jesus who accompanies us and calms the storm.
We are called to have firm faith, hold hope, and share God’s love with others. We would like for you to know the ways in which the Catholic Community Foundation for Eastern South Dakota (CCFESD) is doing just that in the midst of COVID-19 and its impact.
In response to Bishop Donald E. DeGrood’s request that we unite as brothers and sisters in the Lord and have great confidence in Him, the Catholic Community Foundation for Eastern South Dakota has established the COVID-19 Relief Fund.

The night Jesus was born, he and his family were turned away multiple times. They found refuge in a manger, and there, our savoir was born unto us. This year, as a part of the 22nd annual Christmas at the Cathedral, we are once again blessed to put on a private performance for the guests of the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House, the St. Francis House, and those visiting the Sioux Falls Banquet on Wednesday night, December 12th. After the concert, there will be a private reception following the show, allowing our guests the opportunity to enjoy some wonderful home baked goodies and a warm cup of cocoa or cider. We are asking those who are making special holiday treats to consider making an extra dozen for our special guests to enjoy.
If you would like to help, by donating some of your special Christmas goodies, please click HERE and fill out the form, or call 605-988-3788 to sign up. Donations of cider and cocoa are also welcome! You’ll be able to drop your donated treats off at the Catholic Diocese in Sioux Falls at 523 N. Duluth Avenue on Tuesday or Wednesday, December 11 or 12 between the hours of 8:30 and 5:00 p.m
The Eden Catholic community was truly blessed this week with many endowment distribution checks given by generous donors. Donors left a legacy behind to support Sacred Heart Parish of Eden, Eden Park Cemetery, St. Michael Cemetery and St. Joseph Cemetery in Lake City. Marne Hult, Gift Planning Officer in the Watertown Deanery, presented checks to Father Brian Simon and these gifts will go towards parish needs along with care and maintenance of the cemeteries, all in perpetuity.
