What is something you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy exploring all that Sioux Falls and the surrounding area has to offer with my family and friends from restaurants and shops to concerts, shows, and games at the local venues. You will also find me on the volleyball court year round from sand to indoor.
Tell us about your background and family?
I grew up on a farm in Northwest Iowa, after graduating from The University of South Dakota, I moved to Sioux Falls to start my career in development, events, and marketing for local nonprofits.
My husband, Erik, and I have one daughter, Amelia, who turns one in December.
Why did you decide to work at the Catholic Community Foundation?
The continued dedication and charisma of the individuals at the foundation has always been an admiration of mine as a volunteer. When the unexpected opportunity arose to join the events team full time it just felt right.
What excites you most about your new responsibilities?
I am looking forward to connecting with the community and the people we serve through the many events here at the Foundation. I am also very excited to start just in time for Christmas At the Cathedral with a great team!
Who is your favorite Saint and why?
St. Cera (Kiara), Kiara means “light, clear, first ray of sunshine.” Kiara wanted others to know about Jesus by sharing with others. Today, our family lives by this in our everyday lives through our faith and surrounding ourselves with others who share the same values, beliefs, and joy.
St. Cera is the Patron Saint (confirmation name) of my niece whom I had the honor to be her confirmation sponsor of. As a child, she was always an early riser with the admiration of those around her, surrounded by friends and family. Her devotion to her faith is a reminder of what St. Cera was doing for others, how we all need a reminder to share the word of Jesus Christ in our daily lives.
