29th Annual Christmas at the Cathedral: “The Path of Peace”
December 18-21, 2025 | Cathedral of St. Joseph, Sioux Falls Benefiting The Cathedral of St. Joseph and Bishop Dudley Hospitality House Care & Maintenance Endowments
The 29th Annual Christmas at the Cathedral, “The Path of Peace” was once again a joyful Christmas celebration! Attendees were invited to step into the story of Zechariah, a temple priest whose life was forever changed by God’s promise. Zechariah and his wife, Elizabeth—Mary’s cousin—were faithful and devout, yet childless in their old age. Then came an extraordinary moment: the angel Gabriel appeared to Zechariah in the temple, announcing that they would miraculously bear a son. This child, John the Baptist, would go on to prepare the way for the Savior of the world. At first, Zechariah struggled to believe, and he was struck mute until the day he named his son “John”. In that moment of faith, his voice returned, and he burst forth in a hymn of praise now known as The Canticle of Zechariah (Luke 1:68-79). For centuries, clergy and religious across the world have prayed his words daily—a song that culminates in the promise that God will “guide our feet into the path of peace.”
Held December 18–21 at the historic Cathedral of St. Joseph, this year’s event drew nearly 5,000 attendees across six sold-out performances. Thousands more were able to experience the joy of the season through a special Christmas Day broadcast on KELOLAND TV, extending the peace and hope of Christmas far beyond the Cathedral’s walls.
Local actors Andrew Henrickson, Jacqueline Pierce-Humke, and Lilly Sanchez brought the perspectives of Zechariah, Elizabeth, and Mary to life through heartfelt performances, while Narrator Teresa Henrickson guided the audience through this inspiring story of faith. Featured soloists Carlos Santiago and Sarah Bailey delivered standout vocal performances throughout the concert and were joined by the Christmas at the Cathedral Choir, directed by Rachael Kramer, and the Christmas at the Cathedral Orchestra, led by Music Director and Conductor Dr. John Flanery. This year’s performance also showcased the brand new Cathedral of St. Joseph organ, played expertly by Dr. Jared Ostermann. Together, these talented artists filled the Cathedral with soaring harmonies and rich instrumentation, blending timeless carols with original compositions to create an unforgettable story of faith, trust, and joy.
In addition to its spiritual impact, the event raised essential funds for the ongoing care and maintenance endowments of the Cathedral of St. Joseph and the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House. This remarkable collaboration of artistry and generosity continues to touch hearts and transform lives, making Christmas at the Cathedral a cherished tradition in our community.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this truly special event!
